Simona Tanasie

Psychologist

Simona Tanasie Simona is a Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and also  a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS). She has full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Simona obtained her undergraduate psychology degree overseas, and then completed a Masters Degree at the University of South Australia. Throughout her studies, Simona has volunteered and worked in a range of settings including schools, hospitals and community services. She worked at a special needs school which involved supporting children who had been diagnosed with learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities or other mental health disorders. She also worked with adults experiencing adjustment difficulties following illness. Simona enjoys working with individuals of all ages. She adopts a warm, collaborative and non-judgemental approach to help her clients achieve goals and build resilience, in order to create lasting change and improve their quality of life. Simona is passionate about building relationships and working with people from diverse backgrounds and populations. Her main goal is to build rapport and help people feel comfortable, safe and supported in session. She values feedback and questions, and strives to meet each client’s needs with empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard. Simona has been trained in using a variety of evidence-based therapies to provide an individualised,  person-centred approach. Her clinical experience and training primarily include techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy but also draws from other approaches, such as Motivational Interviewing and Interpersonal Therapy. Simona has worked with clients experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, emotion regulation difficulties, interpersonal difficulties and more; however, she has a particular interest in the management of risk associated with self-harm and suicide.
