Brooke is All About Kids' first Exercise Physiologist who is passionate about helping children and youth with their movement in a fun and engaging setting. Brooke offers unique Exercise Physiology sessions through the use of Albany Creek Gymnastics Club. This fun and innovative environment creates the opportunity to provide play-based exercise therapy, as well as weight-based strength training for a more traditional approach. Brooke has a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Honours) from the Queensland University of Technology. Prior to graduating, Brooke worked with children for 4 years as a recreational gymnastics coach. Throughout her gymnastics coaching experiences and clinical placements, Brooke has had experience working with neurological conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Cerebral Palsy, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), hypermobility, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Down Syndrome as well as a variety of mental health conditions.
Through her honours research project, Brooke discovered the important role that social support plays in a rehabilitation setting. Therefore, Brooke strives to create a supportive environment where children feel safe and look forward to attending each session. Through Exercise Physiology treatment, Brooke can provide assessments, and exercise-based treatment to help individuals improve their functional movements (such as walking, running, jumping, sitting, standing, getting up off the floor, and navigating stairs) as well as work to improve children’s strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance, among others.
