“Empowering students and families through compassion and specialized support, fostering resilience and wellbeing”
Kate is a registered Special Education teacher (Early Years) who holds a Master of Education (Guidance and Counselling). She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). I have over 15 years of experience working in the Education sector. Early in my career, I worked in school settings that cater to an Indigenous student population. More recently, I worked in a special education setting where I supported students’ communication skills using Keyword Signs, Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) symbols, and tailored Aided Language Displays (ALD) boards. I am passionate about advocating for mental health and wellbeing. My skills lie in facilitating individual and family counselling sessions and advocating for individuals to reach their goals through person-centred support. I have worked with adolescents experiencing depression (mood disorders), anxiety disorders, trauma, stress, PTSD, and adjustment to major life changes. I've also worked with children who have behavioural and emotional concerns both at home and school and created individualised strategies to address the underlying causes of the behaviours while safeguarding their dignity and quality of life. Family dynamics are intricate systems of interaction and communication that shape and influence the relationships among family members. Understanding family dynamics is the first step towards improving them. I am dedicated to fostering healthier relationships among family members and contributing to better mental and emotional wellbeing.
